I would sell/keep the stock nosepanel (likely keep for aesthetics and re-sale purposes,) and simply purchase a louvered panel. There really isn't a way to cut/modify without it looking mostly like a hackjob, maybe with the exception of Wagz' car. You can get one from Stillen for $120; if you are feeling froggy for some modification to an existing nosepanel? I would find one someone has buggered to all hell in the classifieds, and practice your cutting/design on one that is already ruined. The stock nosepanels are very brittle and subject to cracking if you don't know what you are doing (not claiming anything) Anyways, that is my opinion; I think cutting a one inch opening across the bottom wouldn't look too bad, I would just be concerned on creating possible lift towards the hood. A fascia with some ducting is the way to go.
